Gestured marks

Gestured marks are an embodied language, however within art, it is typically the art object ‘in itself’ that is the focus of attention, rather than the process of its origination through the bodily activities of the artist.

An image can offer an interpretive discourse on the sensory experience involved in the making of that image. When we are looking at a painting a sense of embodiment is registered not through a visible body, however we are aware of the body because of the artwork.
